There are several computer programs with which you can make percussion music. This percussion software can be a great help in understanding your lessons, so in understanding the music you are playing. It will never help you in playing the dynamics well, or in phrasing the solo's, or play any other nuances - for that you need lessons of a good teacher. But percussion software does help in understanding where the beat is, where is the off-beat, how does one part fit into the other, in short: it does help you in analyzing the music (as we Westerners like to do) so a better understanding arises.
